My Leadership

As you all know I will be graduating in May 2012 from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics.  I plan on pursuing my dream of being an entrepreneur by starting my own mobile detailing/ detailing service.  My leadership skills have grown throughout college to be where they are today and I plan on expanding them by managing my first company starting in June 2012.

Leadership has always been a quality that I have thought very highly of throughout my entire life.  In sports and classes I have always believed that it is a sequential part to any persons outlook.  By choosing the entrepreneurial path, there are certain challenges and obstacles that I will face that will test how strong my true leadership is.  It is my decision whether or not to learn from these obstacles and mishaps and grow from them in order to strengthen my leadership qualities and also me as a person.

So I am happy with the path I have chosen and I thank you all for reading my blog this past semester.  I wish you all the best of luck and the best of health in years to come.

Thank you,

Sawyer Webb

My Top Strengths

After completing my Strength Finder assessment and receiving my top five strengths I found that the results were shockingly accurate.  My top three strengths were competition, maximizer, and analytical.  I found that my number one strength competitiveness is a very accurate description of my top strength.  Throughout life I have always been actively involved in competition on and off the field.  Whether it is playing soccer, basketball, or baseball, or as simple as a class project, I have always wanted to be the best and come in first by all means.  This strength will hopefully be portrayed to a potential employer, as competition is very high in the job market currently.  Finally, being analytical is another accurate depiction of one of my strengths. I currently am a finance major where I enjoy analyzing stocks and learning new methods to price and predict stock movements.  I also have my own personal investments where I analyze and keep track of a specific portfolio of stocks that intrigue me.  When I apply for my dream job of being a financial analyst, I hope that this strength will shine the brightest.  Overall, the Strength Finder assessment seemed to be accurate and helpful. Now, when a potential employer asks me what my top strengths are I will be able to answer confidently and knowledgeably being able to accurately explain what I do best!

My Career Vision!

Hello Everyone! As my final semester commences, hundreds of thousands of business students are getting ready to enter the workforce.  With this enormous amount of competition it is no wonder why finding employment after college proves to be difficult for many.  Through my education at the University of New Hampshire, I have been provided extensive knowledge in the fields of finance, and entrepreneurial venture creations.  With my knowledge and skills that I have obtained over the past four years I would ideally like to see myself in the financial services industry as a financial analyst.  I would also like to pursue a career in private equity being able to evaluate and assess start-up companies.  In just this past semester I was able to work as a sales representative at Northwestern Mutual where I obtained my license to sell life, accident, and health insurance in the state of New Hampshire.  This gave me good insight into a career of sales and financial management and will hopefully propel me towards my personal goal of working in the financial services industry.  I am interested to hear all of your opinions about recent news regarding the markets. I will check periodically and provide updates as to how my budding financial career is progressing as well as commenting on recent news and events!
